We have been retained by Hazelwood & Hill, a reputable timber company delivering solutions to the trade since 1931.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and Qualified Wood Machinist to join their busy Burwood site. This is an excellent opportunity to secure your long-term future with a progressive company that values its employees.

The Role:
  • Processing yard orders in order of priority as per instructions from the C.E.O. or Head Machinist.
  • Maintaining a standard of work that complements the Company Quality Policy.
  • Acquiring a working knowledge of the quality management system and adhering to the procedures relevant to your work.
  • Operating and maintaining wood machinery while following OH&S requirements.
  • Tool setting, grinding, and changing for various profiles, including tongue and groove flooring, cladding, and DAR.
  • Familiarity with Weinig and Powerlock Systems is an advantage, but not essential, however, experience working with moulders is essential.
  • Maintaining the moulding catalogue program and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Communicating clearly with team members and interpreting orders for customer custom profiles as needed.
Skills/Experience Required:

We seek a candidate with a strong timber background who prides themselves on being a reliable team player. The ideal candidate will have:  
  • Certificate IV in Timber and Wood Products Operations OR a Certificate III in Wood Machining or a Certificate III in Timber and Composites Machining.
  • Experience operating timber moulders, bandsaws, and end-matching machines.
  • Skills in tool change and machine setup.
  • Knowledge of machine preventative maintenance.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean work environment.
  • A forklift license (preferred but not essential).
  • Physical fitness and capability for regular manual handling of timber.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week, including 2 hours of paid overtime.
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday from 7:15 am to 4:00 pm.
